TGV PSE

First generation TGV trainset for the original Paris-Lyon line. All trainsets have two power cars and 8 coaches (with the two coaches at either end each having an additional power truck with 2 powered axles) for a total of 12 powered axles. All trainset were originally designed for a maximum speed of 270 km/h and equipeed with the TVM-300 train control system.

Originally, the following variants have been built:

  • 25 kV AC / 1.5 kV DC version with two-class seating
  • 25 kV AC / 1.5 kV DC version with first class only seating
  • 25 kV AC / 1.5 kV DC version with storage compartmens for postal service
  • 25 kV AC / 15 kV AC / 1.5 kV DC version with two-class seating for service to Switzerland
  • In preparation for the opening of the TGV Mediterranee line, most trainsets have been upgraded with the TVM-430 train control system and made capable of 300 km/h maximum speed for service on the new line.
